There are some things to watch for, though, so you can keep ahead of any potential problems. Well Pump Watch List

1. Low water pressure. A struggling water pump often results in low water pressure. This could be caused by iron bacteria clogging the pipe that leads to the pressure switch.

   a. To fix the issue, the water should be tested for iron bacteria, and subsequently, the slime, iron bacteria, and scales should be removed with a thorough cleaning.

2. Age. Even the hardiest of pumps won’t last forever. A well-maintained, high quality pump has an average lifespan of around 16 years. After that, you can expect the parts inside of the pump start wearing down.

3. Noisy, spitting taps. Air in your plumbing system can cause noisy, sputtering taps. If you think this might be the case, first check for a leaking pressure tank bladder, then check for a malfunctioning pump, and finally inspect for cracks in the pipes above the pump.

4. Cloudy water. Failing well pumps cannot effectively filter silt before pumping the water to the service. Therefore, muddy or cloudy water is a sign that your well pump may be wearing out.

5. High Electric Bills. If your electric bill is climbing and you can’t think of a reason why, there is a possibility your well pump is malfunctioning. If your well pump is constantly running, it could be a sign that the pump is struggling to draw water, and a reason for your steep electric bills.

If you feel like any of these problems are affecting you, please give us a call. Paying attention to your well water pump’s condition will ensure you catch any problems in the early stages and save you time, money, and frustration.

At Holman Plumbing & Water Treatment, we offer complete well disinfection for bacterial removal and are experienced installing well pumps for both shallow and deep wells. We also supply and install the latest in Deep Set PVC Piping.

  • Our Happy Clients:

Now with our new water system there has been a tremendous change. Most importantly we are healthier, the water tastes and smells like water again and not some chemical cocktail, also the skin problems have been reduced to minimal.

Our hair and skin is soft and we use less body and house hold products. It was so nice to meet a professional who is certified and cares about clients needs. Thank you so much Lauren!

  • Our Happy Clients:

You have restored my faith in the concept of living up to one’s word.

As a result our drinking water was limited to the designated R.0. tap in the kitchen; however, with no way to monitor the efficiency of the filters we were never certain that our drinking water was safe.

I am sure we will enjoy a long and stress-free relationship with you.

  • Our Happy Clients:

I'm really happy with the work you did for me, the faucet installation and cut off valves on the pipes as well as my new pump. I am especially pleased with the Pentex pump saver.

As you know, I was everywhere with my camera that day, so I captured most of what you were doing and attach the pictures as a reminder of a job well done.

Thank you very much for replacing my pump in the correct fashion, and showing me the errors a previous well service company had made.
